Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
Gradeculator ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at gradeculator.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. Please read it carefully.
1. Who We Are
Gradeculator is a free, ad-supported grade and GPA calculator tool. The Service is operated as an independent website. For privacy enquiries, contact us at hello@gradeculator.com.
2. What Data We Collect
2a. Data you provide directly
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. We do not transmit the grades or numbers you enter to our servers — those values never leave your device.
If you email us at hello@gradeculator.com, we receive the name and email address you provide. We use that information only to respond to your message.
2b. Data collected automatically
When you visit Gradeculator, certain technical information is collected automatically by our hosting provider and third-party services, including:
- Your IP address (typically anonymised or truncated)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL and pages visited
- Date and time of visit
- General geographic location (country/region, derived from IP)
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our third-party partners use cookies and similar tracking technologies. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device to help websites function and to collect usage information.
3a. Essential cookies
We store your cookie consent preference in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again on every page. This is strictly necessary and does not require your consent.
3b. Analytics cookies
Subject to your consent, we may use Google Analytics or a privacy-friendly analytics service to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on site, traffic sources). Analytics cookies set by Google are described in Google's Privacy Policy .
3c. Advertising cookies — Google AdSense and DoubleClick
Gradeculator is ad-supported. We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie (also called the DART cookie) and related technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites across the internet.
The DoubleClick cookie allows Google and its partners to:
- Serve ads personalised to your interests
- Limit how often you see an ad
- Measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns
- Detect and prevent invalid traffic and fraud
Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy. You can review it at policies.google.com/privacy .
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. This means that
advertising cookies (ad_storage, ad_user_data,
ad_personalization) and analytics cookies
(analytics_storage) are blocked by default until you give
your consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, non-personalised ads
may still be shown but no advertising cookies will be set.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver and improve the Service
- Display relevant advertisements to keep the Service free
- Understand aggregate usage patterns (analytics)
- Detect and prevent abuse or invalid traffic
- Respond to your enquiries
- Comply with legal obligations
5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Consent — for analytics cookies and personalised advertising cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time (see section 7).
- Legitimate interests — for security, fraud prevention, and serving non-personalised ads.
- Legal obligation — where required by applicable law.
6. Third-Party Advertising Partners
In addition to Google AdSense, Google's advertising partners may also collect data when ads are displayed on Gradeculator. A full list of Google's advertising technology partners and their privacy policies is available at Google's ad technology partners page .
We do not knowingly share your personal data with other third parties for their own marketing purposes.
7. Your Rights and How to Opt Out
7a. Cookie consent
You can update your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the cookie banner, or by clearing your browser's cookies and local storage (which will reset your preference and show the banner again on your next visit).
7b. Google opt-out tools
- Google Ads Settings — manage or opt out of personalised ads from Google.
- Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on — prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
- NAI Opt-Out Tool — opt out of interest-based advertising from NAI member companies.
- Your Online Choices (EU) — manage preferences for participating advertising networks.
7c. Your data protection rights (EEA and UK)
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@gradeculator.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK at ico.org.uk).
8. Data Retention
We do not maintain a database of user records. Server access logs (if any) are retained for no longer than 30 days. Email correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry.
Google retains data collected through AdSense and Analytics according to its own retention policies, which you can review in Google's Privacy Policy .
9. Children's Privacy
Gradeculator is a general-purpose tool intended for users of all ages, including students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK) beyond what is set out in this policy. We do not display personalised advertising to users who identify as under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. International Data Transfers
Google's servers are located globally, including in the United States. When you consent to analytics or advertising cookies, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms to safeguard such transfers.
11. Security
Gradeculator is served exclusively over HTTPS. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information handled through the Service. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
